Toronto, ON – Black Canvas is proud to announce its selection for funding under the Foundation for Black Communities (FFBC) Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) initiative's Core stream. Black Canvas's launch project was chosen from over 1,500 applicants, marking a significant milestone for the organization dedicated to empowering Black artists.
The Foundation for Black Communities (FFBC) was established to ensure every Black person can thrive and all Black communities have agency in defining their own future. Founded in 2020, FFBC is Canada’s first-ever philanthropic foundation dedicated to ensuring that Black-led, Black-mandated, and Black-focused organizations have the sustained resources needed to make a
meaningful impact.
This vital funding will significantly bolster Black Canvas's efforts to create an arts community where Black artists are fully supported, celebrated, and empowered. Black Canvas aims to help artists reach their highest potential, enabling them to contribute their unique voices to a more diverse and inclusive cultural landscape.
Black Canvas is also a proud supporter of The Foundation for Black Communities’ bid for the Black-Led Philanthropic Endowment Fund, an impactful initiative that promises to further empower Black communities and drive positive change across Canada.
This project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada.
